Madison River Full Day Raft – Beartrap Canyon

Montana Whitewater is proud to offer full day trips through Bear Trap Canyon- a designated Wilderness Area- under a special use permit from the BLM. This is a small group trip with a maximum of 18 people, through a beautiful area only accessible by foot or boat.

As one of two outfitters on this section of the Madison River, we know you will enjoy the peace and quiet of being the some of the only boaters around. Eagles may circle overhead, mountain sheep and goats might watch from rocky cliffs and you could even catch sight of a bear as you float.

The trip begins with a few fun class III rapids, some mellow, scenic floating, then you hit the legendary Kitchen Sink-a technical class IV rapid. We reserve the right to have our guests walk around the Kitchen Sink depending on water levels and age (guests can always opt to walk). The other sections of this float are appropriate for all rafters. Sit by the rapids and enjoy a delicious riverside lunch and then a mostly mellow float to the takeout, with great swimming holes.

Given the technical nature of this river we use oar boats. Feel the thrills and splashes in the morning, then sit back and relax all afternoon!

We do require at least 5 guests in order to run this trip. If you have less than 5 people in your group, call to inquire about available dates.

10 river miles, lunch included. Duration of trip depends on water levels.

Driving Directions to Warm Springs Takeout – Madison River meeting place

From Ennis

Go north 16 miles to Norris (intersection of Highway 287 & Highway 84) and then 5 miles east on Highway 84 to Warm Springs (on your right)

From Bozeman

Head 8 miles out of town to Four Corners, continue straight on Highway 84 for 25 miles. Warm Springs is on your left.
